In the final full week of school, students in Ms. Libby Hilker’s second grade class organized a spirit week for everyone at Remington Traditional.
“We were asked to because we had our own spirit week a few weeks ago and people saw the fun that we were having and wanted to get in on it.”
Pattonville hosted an online presentation with infectious disease expert Dr. Jason Newland on May 18. During the event, Newland provided an update on COVID-19 and the results of the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) program that included the Pattonville school community in studying COVID-19 transmission and mitigation strategies in schools.
As mentioned in the presentation, Pattonville is partnering with the CDC, St. Louis University and Washington University to offer free COVID-19 testing for the Pattonville community. Tests are saliva-based and do not require nasal swabbing. Testing will be conducted from the patient's car and is available Sundays through Fridays. Results are typically available in 24 to 48 hours. To request a test, call (314) 454-4269.
The fifth graders at Remington Traditional graduated from the DARE (Drug Abuse Resistance Education) program on Tuesday during a ceremony in the school’s library.
The program, which is taught by Maryland Heights police officer Bob Heitert, gives students the skills they need to recognize and resist the pressures that may cause them to experiment with drugs or become involved in unhealthy activities.
Several district activities have been canceled this year due to the pandemic, but Heitert was determined to hold this event because it’s a culmination of a lot of things for the students.
