|ACT vouchers now available for PHS juniors|
|Tuesday, November 21, 2017|
Earlier this school year, the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) announced it would no longer pay for juniors in the state to take the ACT college entrance exam. In order to continue to assist its college-bound students, the Pattonville School District will purchase one ACT test (without writing) voucher for each junior, which can be applied when the student registers for a regularly scheduled ACT test in February, April or June 2018. Pattonville High School will distribute the coupons upon request to juniors.
ACT vouchers are now be available to all current Pattonville juniors. The vouchers will be available in the high school guidance office. Students may also elect to take the ACT Work Keys test in place of the ACT. The ACT Work Keys test will be given during the spring semester of a student's senior year. Unfortunately, lost vouchers cannot be replaced.
For juniors who choose to take the SAT (without essay) instead of the ACT or ACT Work Keys, Pattonville will reimburse each student for the cost of the March, May or June test. Students must provide a receipt indicating the cost of the test to Associate Principal Robert Thompson's office. Students who do not wish to take the ACT or SAT will be strongly encouraged to take the ACT Work Keys or ASVAB. There is no cost to the ASVAB. See below for more information regarding each test.
In addition to supporting student needs, all of these tests will help Pattonville meet state requirements outlined as part of the Missouri School Improvement Program (MSIP) administered by DESE.
